I can’t believe it’s the last day of #ChristmasCookiesWeek!  Can you? I have seen some absolutely delicious cookies I can’t wait to add to my baking list.  I hope you have pinned several recipes, too.

My final recipe is more about my immediately family history.  Ever since I can remember, we’ve had bubble lights on our tree.  I’m not even really how that traditional got started, but it did.  They were the last lights to go on the tree before adding the ornaments.

For those that don’t know, a bubble light is just that.

It’s a light that has liquid in a tube that bubbles.  They’re filled with a chemical that has a low boiling point that allows the incandescent light bulb make it boil.  They come in many colors and I’ve even seen some interesting shapes, too.

One of the novelty stores sold a bubble light night light one year.  Of course, I had to get a couple of those.  The problem was, or is I should say, the bulbs are not easily found at your local stores.  At least not at my local stores.  I don’t see them at Home Depot or Lowe’s.  Not even Walmart sells them.

It’s because of this, and the fact that the hubs just doesn’t really like them for some reason, that we haven’t put them on our tree in the last few years.  I miss them.  I want to bring them back and put them on our tree again.

This is the year I put my foot down and insist they go on the tree!  Maybe.

Then again, I think many of them aren’t working because they’re quite old.  Not as old as the original bubble lights.  Did you know they were made in England in the 20’s but didn’t come to the States until the 40’s?  They come in your typical holiday colors of yellow, red, blue, and green.  Sometimes they’re white with clear liquid, but those are few and far between.  They’ve even adapted the bubble light for Halloween, too!

It’s only natural that I selected the bubble light cookie cutter when Yum Goggle sponsored this event.  Even though I have a TON of holiday cookie cutters, I didn’t have a bubble light.  And since bubble lights have always been our tree, I couldn’t pass that opportunity up!

Could you?
